During the 1920's, the speakeasy may have been instrumental in dubbing the era´s name as the "Roaring Twenties." Throughout this period, prohibition as it was known as, banned alcohol for consumption and was considered an illegal substance.
However, the much of the public chose to ignore this law and visited speakeasies. The speakeasy was created as a late at night hangout where people could get alcohol and dance the night away. Many had secret pass words that only the patron would know to get in.
Many of the leading speakeasies were located in New York and Chicago, where the affluent could rub elbows with some of the top red hot jazz artists in clubs such as "The Cotton Club" and "The Stork Club."
Those days may long be gone but recently an infatuation with the past has made the speakeasy become a fixture in major cities. The "new" legal speakeasies take the concept of the prohibition to a fresh level. Chances are a flight of stairs, secret passageway or back room will be involved upon entrance.
"The Back Room" has no name listed at its location in Lower Manhattan, and is better recognized from the streets of New York as the "Lower East Side Toy Company." Besides its hidden entrance, patrons will run across working candlestick phones and crystal chandeliers, that is totally "camp" and yet elegant. Cocktails are served in teacups, while beer changes hands in paper bags, and there’s a VIP room for celebrities. This hideaway boasts all the glamour of a 20s-era speakeasy is known to draw a hipster-celebrity crowd for post-club night capping,
Nothing could be better than entering a modern speakeasy than with a Louis Vuitton Epi Nocturne Handbag. The design of the pre-own bag just has that art deco feel to it. It is made of the Louis Vuitton typical epi textured leather in black with the LV insignia cleverly subtle near the corner base. The top handle is hand carried in a smooth leather and trim. The bottom of the used Louis Vuitton Epi Nocturne will forever remain in great condition due to its uniquely styled raised tabs as protectors.
The pre-owned LV Nocturne is extremely versatile and can be used most everywhere. The interior is lined in matching black microfiber. It contains an interior patch pocket too.
An authentic LV Epi Nocturne stands out and is a less than common design but certainly not one to hideaway. Carry the pre-own Epi Nocturne and enjoy a bit of the past while drinking a martini in a tea cup at one of the new speakeasies around town.
